Dish stopped using the list format when the first Hopper was released (3 Hopper versions ago) and many have asked to have the option returned. It took 6 years for Dish to allow users to again change the nightly update time, so I don't hold out much hope of list view coming back - most cable/sat companies use icon view, it's the way everything is these days.

I/We just started with DishTV.
The DVR interface is horrible! Neither my wife nor I can read much of anything in the pictures!
Who wants pictures that are indecipherable?? What's wrong with plain English??
It's hard see which recording is highlighted in order to select it.
I can't see which program I am deleting or selecting to watch.
We can read NOVA but what does that tell you?
Sure, the right sidebar has English but that means we have to go to each and every stupid picture to see what the title is and how many recordings are saved!
We thought the Dish menu would be better than DirecTV's menu! That's why we changed services. WRONG!
If it's not "fixed" soon, we may just collect the $300 bonus Gift Card, cancel our service and pay the $20/month default fee, and go to over-the-air.
We can't, and we won't, live with this DVD menu for long!
