Dish Anywhere Not Working on PC

Character Actor
Long time Dish customer. Hopper 3 system. No problem using iOS app to watch TV, but have found no success watching via PC after trying it on three different browsers (Chrome, IE and Firefox).
After logging into the dishanywhere.com site, I get a green light next to my system name on the bottom left. However when I click the Watch Live link at the top here's what happens for each browser:
On Chrome, I get prompted to download and install the Dish Anywhere Player (which I've done a bunch of times).
On Firefox, I got a prompt "We are unable to connect to the DISH Anywhere Player application.
Please relaunch the app and accept, or click “Yes, if prompted by your browser. Alternately, try re-installing the app by clicking “Install below."
On IE, at one time it prompted me if I wanted to run a program on the computer for Dish Anywhere, but now nothing.

Go into the settings and delete out the plugins and try again.

Already tried that.

Look under the "Dish Anywhere" post on 10 Sep. Mrgood and I reported this already but apparently Dish can't recreate this issue.

If you look at the other thread, you will see that this has been tried and does not work. djfrustration also already stated that this doesn't work.

I can almost guarantee you it will not work. I have had 2 different conversations with dish people and they are unable to fix it themselves. This is obviously an issue they have no interest in fixing. I have more upload and download speed than 99% of the people in the world have. And I still can't get it to work.

I got a call from a Dish Representative today based on my feedback in a survey and my 10 years of subscription. We solved the issue. Here's what did the trick.
I had tried disabling my firewall entirely, downloading the software and repairing the installation, but it didn't work.
What fixed it was to create a firewall rule to allow the application. Then to repair the installation, then do a restart and then log in to dishanywhere.com. Tested it in Chrome and now it's working.

Which firewall was this, and can you post more details ?

I had many issues with Dish anywhere on PC before and had uninstalled it as a result. Just reinstalled it today and it worked, though. At least, somewhat, until I drag the Dish anywhere window from one monitor to another, then all goes to hell.

Seconding midbrain's request that djfrustration share WHAT firewall required "creating rules to allow the application": PC or Router? If PC or Router, which PC firewall software or which router model and firmware?
...and could you share the rules you created, please?
Many thanks, in advance

Neither my Mac mini (Late 2012) MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 nor my Windows 10 PC -- both connected via WiFi to the same Asus RT-AC88u router, to which my Dish Hopper 2 with Sling is connected via Ethernet cable shows "green" for receiver connection or can play DVR recordings.
I've tried: uninstalling/re-installing anywhere plug-ins/apps, re-starting and using Safari and Chrome on MacOS and using IE and Chrome on Windows, restarting the computer OS, re-starting my Asus RT-AC88u router and resetting my Dish Hopper 2 with Sling.
I can always play "live TV" from dishanywhere.com, and I can view DVR recording titles and request that they play, but the dish anywhereapp invariably plays either "Live TV" or a recording other than the one I requested.
