**This is for information purposes on resolving a sound issue with my Hopper 3 and Samsung TV**
We were having issues when pausing a recorded show and then playing the sound would go away and not come back until we changed the source (input) to another device and then come back to Dish and it would be working??
Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Dish technician and he did an excellent job stepping thru and narrowing down why I was having this issue.
Final resolution was due to I had optical going from my Samsung TV to a sound bar with Dolby Digital connected is why I keep losing sound intermittantly when pausing a DVR show.
I moved the optical output to the back of the Dish receiver and it fixed the issue!
