I agree! HBO only had a new show/movie about once a month anyway but the fact they removed their channels and their Cinemax channels chaps my **bleep**. Just who do they think they are? Because they own DirecTV (which is a piece of crap) they want a monopoly on all their channels across both mediums and they want Dish to be responsible for keeping their subscriptions up. They can Kiss My Rebel **bleep**! If I was the CEO of Dish, I would terminate negotiations and see how the hell they like that. Within a month they would be begging to negotiate. AT&T Executives are driving this crap. I worked for AT&T in Orlando in IT and know exactly how they negotiate. Either do as we say or forget it! That is not a negotiation, that is a Dictatorship folks. Tell AT&T/DirecTV to go pound sand!!!!!
As I stated a long time ago, Dish needs to move on. AT&T are the destroyers, they had all the cards already, but the ruling puts the final nail in the coffin. Dish is hurting their customers by letting this linger. There are no negotiations, how can there be?
@TXWARLOC1 You do understand, I hope, that the problem is that HBO (ATT) has made an offer to DISH that DISH had to refuse. The goal of ATT is to attract customers away from the competition, and not to offer media at competitive rates. ATT is currently revamping Directv and HBO for the purpose of increasing profits and at the same time reducing the amount of content their subscribers receive as their monthly payments increase. I left Directv last November to return to DISH primarily because of what ATT had done to Directv. I reached the conclusion that there was nothing on HBO important enough for me to remain a customer of ATT.
I never inferred that negotiations do not take time. What I am saying is that ATT has all the cards and they have apparently made a demand that is ridiculous, so I do not believe there is anything going on right now. ATT's intent is to elmiinate competition. The loss in revenue from the Dish HBO subscribers is very small and not hurtiing them at all. Dish has lost thousands of subscribers, which has no doubt hurt them a great deal.

I am in precisely the same situation. I have a two year agreement on my Hopper3 to lock things in. Someone commented that these things happen all the time. I disagree. Channel disputes in the past always get resolved, or at least they have been. This one is obviously going nowhere. Dish has taken an amazing strategy in that it has given its customers nothing, nada, silence. I agree on your observation, what are we supposed to think? I have been a loyal customer for 20+ years. I feel betrayed, no doubt about. What is Dish going to do when it reviews your account? I already know that answer, it is rethorical question. This is not a question of money. I spend a lot on this kind of entertainment. It is access and convenience of having it on a teriffic DVR. It is astonishing to me that Dish is telling customers to go to HBO Go, simply astonishing.
