BBC America no longer available on my current package

So I signed up for a package which included one of my favorite channels (BBC-America) a few months ago. Lo and behold, they take it off my package and add it into the next most expensive  package of programs.

This is absoltuely infuriating and another reason that evantually I will migrate out of these kinds of deals and into something—probably something online—where I can control what I want to watch. All I can do is vote with my feet, I guess. So I'll leave as soon as my contrast is up.

This business of paying money for channels I don't want—and more money for channels I do want is total nonsense. In the entire lineup of channels in my package I don't watch more than a half dozen.

I’m guessing you have the Flex Plan. Unfortunately, channels contractually obligate providers which package their handles go in, and that can change at anytime. This is the specific reason that the service agreement states as such. I also believe that channel was recently on free preview.

Chad....I'm guessing you dont really know where that channel was in the packages. I have the top 120, and BBC America is no longer available. It is now only available as part of top 200 or better. You are saying that the channels define your package lineup. I find that hard to believe. There is deliberate planning involved by Dish to make those packages, which are intended to lure you up the ladder at higher cost. To deny that is disingenuous. I will vote with my feet as the original poster said and leave after my contract ends.

dino, we would certainly hate to lose you as a customer. Per the contractual agreements we have with the channels owners, we must place their channel in the package they choose. We are always interested in hearing how we can improve your viewing experience, I will go ahead and get this feedback submitted to our Programming Team.

I will also not renew when my contract is up. Not only do they increase price of package after 2 years, and say your getting the new customer deal again, they go and take away channels from a package its been in for a while. It was my favorite channel. Bye bye Dish.

I agree. I am very upset that they have removed the channel. I, also, will not renew when my contract ends. Come on Dish, give us back our BBCA!

I just spent 10 minutes searching the guide for bbc. I did a google search and found your response here. This is absurd especially given Dish is losing customers left and right due to the hbo fiasco. This is indeed the final straw. After having dish for 20+ years, we will be cutting them loose and using a streaming device...looks like YouTube TV is the leader right now.

No, I have the Smart Plan and have had it a long time. BUT, I've always had the BBC. Ya'll just inadvertently removed that channel?

Hi ppurple52! The channel owners are the ones that decide which channels go in which package. Right now, you can find our BBC America channel, 135, on our America's Top 200 channel. However, there are times that we do offer the Free Previews in which the channel will be unlocked for a limited amount of time.

If you want to send me a private message with your phone number and 4-digit PIN, I can go ahead and see about adding that for you.

Just spoke to Richard at Dish about what happened to BBC America. I have had this as part of my programming for quite some time. Also missing HDNET. He told me that BBC America was only on a thirty day promotion. This is so not true. I have been watching this channel in my programming forquite some time. He said no only a promotion but included in top 200 ( I have top 120). I know what I watch and have been watching this forever. Also said HDNet is no longer available on top 120 and it may have been a fluke that I was still watching. (I recorded something from there in June).  I am tired of paying for channels I do not watch and being forced to pay more for the channels I do want to watch.  I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years and this is the last straw. I pay for garbage and I am done. I will now become a streaming customer and pay a lot less and wont be tied to a company that can make changes as they wish without regard to its customers.
