***WHY IS DISH PLAYING A* "SCAM" ON ME AGAIN? I PAY FOR AMERICA'S TOP 250-*WHICH "INCLUDE'S" LOCAL CHANNEL'S!! NOW YOU(DISH) WANT TO SCAM ME AT $10.00 MORE A MONTH FOR LOCAL CHANNEL'S, WHY??? IT'S BAD ENOUGH WHEN I AGREED WITH DISH TO REPLACE MY (PURCHASED NOT LEASED) VIP722K DVR FREE OF CHARGE W/A ""FACTORY-BRAND-NEW"" UNIT THAT HAD A CIRCUIT BURN OUT, IT WAS REPLACED WITH A REFURBISHED-USED-SCRATCHED-DIRTY ONE=THAT IS "NOT" A BRAND-NEW DVR!! ALSO THE TECH. CHANGED MY SATELITE DISH WHICH NOW DOES'NT SHOW MY STANDARD DEF CH's IN ADDITION TO THAT IT'S BEEN MONTHS SINCE MY COMEDY CENTRAL CH. CEASED IT'S AUDIO, NOW VH1's AUDIO IS GONE AS WELL!! YES, I'M OFFERED CREDIT'S BUT NEVER GET RESOLVED THE PROBLEM'S, YES, I GET PROMISE'S AND THE WORD OF "ACCT.SPECIALIST'S" BUT CONTINUED TO BE LIED TO AND YET EVERY 3-5 MONTH'S THERE SEEMS TO BE ADDED ANOTHER PRICE INCREASE OR CHARGE TO MY ACCT. WITHOUT PRIOR NOTIFICATION!! MY GUESS IS SO DISH HOPES I WONT NOTICE IT, WHY?? YET EVERYTIME I'M LIED TO BY OPERATORS & ACCT. SPECIALIST'S I'M SUPPOSED TO FEEL BETTER BY THEM CONSTANTLY TELLING ME I'M A PREFERED CUSTOMER? I THINK DISH MEANS I'M A "SUCKER" CUSTOMER! I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR THE EXCUSES WHEN I CALL.CAN SOMEONE AT DISH TELL ME WHY I'M BEING TREATED LIKE DIRT?? I'M LOOKING AT OTHER CABLE COMPANY'S, BECAUSE FOR ONE THAT HAS A PERFECT PAYMENT RECORD I'M TREATED LIKE BULL-S@%T, WHY???

Dish is just breaking things out differently on their latest bills, you aren't actually paying $10 more per month (unless you have it as an add-on with Flex). You're just seeing locals listed separately on your bill.

Both satellite companies raise rates almost every year at this time (usually $5), it's nothing new - they've been doing it for the 20+ yrs I've had services. I did read that the 722 receiver fee was increasing though, maybe that's why you think they are charging extra for locals - which they aren't. Emails usually get sent out stating the increases.

The Hopper series of dvr's are now 5 years old so 722's are out of date technology, I doubt if many have even been made in the past few years if at all.

Sounds like you've gotten a bunch of credits but they are normally short term things, so later your bill "raises" but only up to the normal price. I don't see why they would notify you of a credit ending. That would just add more cost and bother on their end. (And the Dish terms of service say that prices and programming are subject to change anyway - just like everyone else in this business.)

I have a VIP 722 myself, but from what I've read, they haven't been manufactured in years, so any replacement you get is not going to be "new". If you want "new and shiny" you're probably have to accept "modern" as well. (ie: a Hopper.)

I to realized I was scammed today. I had to put my account on pause because our house sold before the new one was ready and we had to live in temporary housing for three months. When I reactivated my service after moving into the new house my bill went from $53 to $99. The response from Dish is, "You should have read the fine print sucker".

What a way to run a business!

Don't put the blame on Dish - if you get new customer discounts & make changes to your service you lose the discounts, you agreed to keep a certain level of programming when you signed the contract, it's in the agreement.

If you read the terms of your service agreement, it will explain that pausing service forfeits all credits and offers, and also pauses the term of the commitment as well.

This will be the 2nd $5 price hike on my account in the last 12 months, this time supposedly for Local channels and the "rising cost". This looks like a scheme for Dish to make more money off us and blame someone else. Why is the OTA USB Dongle for the Hopper no longer available and being sold by 3rd party sellers for over $100. Why is Dish forcing it's customers to buy the Local channels if we have OTA antenna's that can tune the locals, why aren't they making it an option to drop locals? Dish, I will be dropping service after my promotional credits run out and go to DirecTV where I can get promo's for 12-24 months, then I'll switch to my local cable company after to take advantage of their promos. Hiking the price on your customers every 6 months won't keep us around!

There hasn't been a price increase since last January. You will experience a price increase once per year with all providers. Channels increase cost each year, which is why.

The FCC forces all cable and satellite providers to offer a selection of local channels, DISH isn't forcing you. DISH would love it if they could get away with no locals, but they can't.
