At a some point in the past, let us say 6 months ago for the sake of argument, the ability to filter and find new movies via the VOD feature on hoppers and joeys was much more effective.
[b:1mqwy0xw]Problem:[/b:1mqwy0xw] Two things appear to have happened that have made it more challenging to find new movies via the filtering solution:
A large quantity of video material has been marked 'movie' in the dish video on demand system that is clearly not a movie. Almost nothing is returned when using critic rating making ineffective for filtering.
Select Menu, Video on Demand, Red button or Options to enter filtering. Enable the following filters: Free only HD only Content type Movies Release Date New Releases
Note approx 422 Titles are displayed in show results tile. SELECT Show Results
On the first page of returned movies you will see things like: 15 minute FEATURE on the 2017 Dubai World Cup, or the 3hr long 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or 24/7 Ward/Kovalev 2 for you to watch 28 minutes of match hype....the list goes on as you page down through 422 titles most of which should NOT be categorized as a Movie.
[b:1mqwy0xw]Suggested Resolution[/b:1mqwy0xw]: If you want to offer these, then only display them in the return when Content Type =All, or create a new Content Type value like "Feature." You can then recatagorize your library/offering so the consumer can find what they are looking for...
[b:1mqwy0xw]Workflow 2:[/b:1mqwy0xw] Select Menu, Video on Demand, Red button or Options to enter filtering. Enable the following filters: Free only HD only Content type Movies Release Date New Releases
Note approx 422 Titles are displayed in show results tile.
Add the filter Critics Rating, 2 stars or more. Note 0 Titles are displayed in show results.
This had been useful (in the past) for filtering out extraneous nonmainstream content like soft porn and other things that would have qualified as movies but not been desired in the results.
[b:1mqwy0xw]Suggested Resolution[/b:1mqwy0xw] Implement a critic rating source from a major recognized industry provider that is useful to savy users who want to filter their programming experience. Then incorporate that into your on Demand system. Alternative, just make it work like it used to.
