I purchased a VIP 612 early this year. After a short time it started humming and would not turn on. Dish replaced it. Since then I've had three more fail for the same thing. I have been told the hard drive has failed in each one thus reason it won't turn on.Dish keeps sending me more. Is this a common problem? I feel as if I am being given receivers that have been turned back in by other customers that are at the end of their life. Not sure what the Dish folks do to receivers they are giving out as replacements other than verify they work. Any info will be appreciated.
A couple of things to check with you. Is it plugged directly into the wall or a power-strip? If the strip, is there any way to bypass it and go directly into the wall? Is there any way you can PM me with the phone number and 4-digit PIN on the account with your service address?
