I leave my TV on a HD cable channel when I turn it off. Often when I turn it on the picture is poor, I suspect the picture is in standard definition. As soon as I push the cable number on the remote the picture changes to the perfect HD picture. This problem started a few weeks ago. I have the SD channels turned off on my "guide". Could this be another problem with the new Hopper update?
When I see this type of issue it is because something interferes with the satellite signal (usually wet snow on the dish, heavier rain in the air, etc) and the Hopper will automatically switch to the SD version of the channel and leave it there until I switch it back.
This doesn't happen often, however.
Is it possible that this scenario may be occurring? Another possibility along those same lines - bad coax, satellite dish now slightly ajar, bad or loose connectors?
