Thank you for clarifying RangerRoy! Have you checked to ensure that you aren't experiencing Hard Drive failure? If not, please do the following: 

40.0: DISH Remote > [SAT] > [MENU] > [MENU] > Status > Check Status > Yes

5x.x: DISH Remote > [SAT] > [HOME] > [HOME] > [HOME] > Status > Check Status > Yes. Check field "D" for a green check mark.
