Hard Drive for Wally

I want to get a 2tb HD. Samsung makes a 2TB Expansion drive that is similar to the 1tb sold by Dish. Here is a link to it:

Model #STEA2000400
Will this work as a DVR drive for the Wally when used with a Winegard Pathway X2?
thanks

In order to enable the DVR feature on some single tuner HD receiver models (Wally, 211, 211k, 211z). The EHD must have its own power supply, have a USB 2.0-compatible cable, meet the size requirements for the receiver to which it is connected (Max 2TB), and have only a single hard disk drive (flash memory is not compatible).

The drive listed in that link is a USB 3.0 which would not work, and is USB powered which will not work.

Isn't usb 3 backward compatible with usb 2?
Can you recommend some 2tb drives that are compatible with the Wally?
thank you

You're right, I completely spaced the USB 3.0 backwards comparability. As far as a power supply: an example you will need an external hard drive with an AC adapter such as [url:142ooad6]http://www.wdc.com/products/external-storage/my-book.html[/url:142ooad6]

I bought this hard drive which appears to be identical to the one Dish sells for the Wally except it is 2TB:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TKFEE5S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s05?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is a Seagate STEA2000400, USB powered. When I plug it into my Hopper 3, the Hopper sees the hard drive and gives me the option to configure it. However, when I plug it into the Wally in my RV the drive lights up and I can hear it running but nothing comes up on the TV screen? No prommpts to configure, etc.

Any suggestions for getting it to work?

RichNJohn, do you have the external hard drive for wally feature active on your account?

No, I do not have it activated. When the Dish Tech installed service in my home, he told me I needed to plug in the hard drive into the Wally and follow the on screen prompts until I got to the one that says to call Dish for authorization. Since I can't get the set up feature to run I haven't called Dish yet.

That could be part of the problem. We can definitely activate the external hard drive for use with the Wally. It does require a one time $40 activation fee.
