Will this work as a DVR drive for the Wally when used with a Winegard Pathway X2?
thanks

Can you recommend some 2tb drives that are compatible with the Wally?
thank you
I bought this hard drive which appears to be identical to the one Dish sells for the Wally except it is 2TB:

It is a Seagate STEA2000400, USB powered. When I plug it into my Hopper 3, the Hopper sees the hard drive and gives me the option to configure it. However, when I plug it into the Wally in my RV the drive lights up and I can hear it running but nothing comes up on the TV screen? No prommpts to configure, etc.
Any suggestions for getting it to work?
RichNJohn, do you have the external hard drive for wally feature active on your account?
No, I do not have it activated. When the Dish Tech installed service in my home, he told me I needed to plug in the hard drive into the Wally and follow the on screen prompts until I got to the one that says to call Dish for authorization. Since I can't get the set up feature to run I haven't called Dish yet.
That could be part of the problem. We can definitely activate the external hard drive for use with the Wally. It does require a one time $40 activation fee.
Think it has to have it's own power supply. At least that what I read about the Wally. Not sure about the Hopper/
Thank you for reaching out to us. Here are the requirements for the external hard drive:
Power Supply (some can have their own built-in power supply)
USB 2.0-compatible cable
Single hard disk drive (flash memory is not compatible)
Feel free to reach out to us should you have any additional questions or concerns.
