I’ve never seen a company as arrogant as Dish! They completely ignore the issues with the terrible new google assistiant that has basically rendered voice controls useless, and now they completely ignore their customers reguarding the Fox dispute. Just as a we are coming into the fall sport season we will be missing most post season baseball, and many NFL games without Fox, and then they have the arrogance to not even provide a credit for the services we are not receiving! And you bet they have stopped paying Fox during their dispute!
Is anyone at dish listening. You used to have commercials that said you did but that is no longer true. All I can say is "BRING BACK THE OLD VOICE SEARCH THAT WORKED AND NOT THE USELESS PIECE OF CRAP YOU STUCK US WITH!!!!!!".
I found a way to disable the google assistant set up. that the dish tech are basically talking everyone through. THIS WILL ONLY SET IT BACK TO THE POINT AT WHICH IT WILL ASK YOU AGAIN this does nto stop the google assistant but it will turn off the sharing of information from you dish hopper to google. if you have the voice service turned on then just press the mic button and say "Disable information sharing" once you do this the sharing will be disabled. of course after this you will be asked again to enable it. as everyone has read and heard unless Dish themselves turn off the forced intergration it will not go away but maybe if enough of the customers just disable the sharing there will be no reason to keep it going.
the "Stop sending data" option only works if the google assistant is fully tied to a google account but the "Disable information sharing" command will reset the google assistant intergration to basically not set up.
DubVee, those directions only turn on the google intergration so by doing them you are turning on the google assistant even if you are not tying it to a google account. to quote a movie " the only winning move is not to play"
Dish Network has new commercials designed for the 1% of wealthy folks that have smart devices to use Google Assistant. Unfortunately, most of us are pay-check to pay-check and pay good money to Dish Network for what used to be, great service.
The 99% of us want our voice remote returned to its configuration. It is usless. OR, provide a $20/month refund to each customer until you can figure out how to disable the Google Assistant and reactivate our remotes.
Failures do happen every once and a while. After hearing from so many of us, you have to do something or at least inform us what is your next great idea. Those of us that do not want to use Google Assistant should be able to have something other than text search.
Every time the Dish Network commercial comes on to show how wonderful it works, I laugh, then have to use the bathroom. BTW.... F-Google!
That doesn't stop Google from watching all that you do and they already know you via some other spying they do everywhere.
Now, they will knoiw your TV habits too.
I see no possibility other than denying access to your internet connection to stop this and that will have other consequences.
Dish lost ~281,000 as of July, 2019 so this hookup with "Do no evil" leftist Google will get some revenue they have lost by deficating on subscribers.
Google wants to know what you do every moment of your life, now your TV habits too.
For us, Dish will be history when our broadband bandwidth gets better which should happen within the next year or so.
And you trust Dish and Google to stop sending data?
They need to spy on you to try to bring back some of their lost revenue since their subscriber numbers are plummeting, ~281,000 in July 2019.
