We also have a lot of noise coming from the unit itself. It has shut down on a few occasions. I've gotten in the habit of unplugging it before I leave for work because it seems to be overheating. It is in a well ventilated area. Up until recently, there was an open window behind it for most of the summer. The last rep I talked to said that it might need to be replaced.
Our receiver started making a loud noise yesterday but then quit making it. I didn't think much about it until we got the "overheat" message this morning. After waiting on hold for 50 minutes to actually speak to someone, I was told it is working fine and they won't send a replacement receiver. As I told the kid, I've been looking for a reason to switch providers. After 13 years, I think I just found my reason. Too bad they didn't call me back to give a survey ... I had plenty to say.
Hi, okwriter! We would be sad to lose you as a customer. If you're getting the Overheat message and hearing that noise, it definitely sounds like your receiver needs to be replaced. Can you send me a Private Message with the phone number on your account and the 4 digit PIN?
